All the articles published in JAPS are freely available without any registration, subscription, or payment. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, as long as the original authors are properly cited.
Furthermore, the journal also allows the authors to self-archive the final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional/subject-based repository.
This is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative definition, which states;
"By 'open access to this literature, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself." JAPS adopted a gold open-access model, which means that the published articles are funded by article processing charges paid at the time of acceptance. Author(s) retain the copyright of their work, with articles licensed to JAPS.
All the published articles are licensed under a Creative Commons License (CC-BY), full details of which can be found here.
